These 7 Ds of Success Guarantee You Get What You Really Want
What if success was machine like?
Wouldn’t it be useful to know that there was a reliable system for success just like there are machines that produce reliable results over and over again?
I admit success for one person might show up very differently than success for another person. Even so, there are 7 Ds of success that underlie the success we see in others. Principles so certain that success can be as reliable as cranking out widgets on a widget maker.
If you’re committed to adopting these 7 Ds of success into your life, then you are guaranteed to reliably create more success in your life. You are guaranteed to get what you really want.
The fact is, people who create success for themselves and others follow a system. It’s why you often see them succeed in more than one area after their first success. Jim Rohn, Tony Robbins, and others have been telling us for years that “success leave clues.” These clues, or patterns, are your key to unlocking the door to what you really want from any and all areas of life.
These 7 Ds are all that is actually required to help you get whatever you want from life.
These 7 Ds of success allowed me to go from broke, frustrated, and ready to drop out of life to a thriving enterprise I love… solid, meaningful relationships in my home and around the world… an identity that allows me to move through the world with power and certainty… and a commitment to fitness that supports everything I am up to in life.
In short, I have it all — for me. There’s nothing else I need from this life. AND… because I know how to use the 7 Ds, I can create anything else I choose to choose with certainty and power.
Listen, I am committed to you getting the same ability to create the life you really want — it’s why I write, teach, speak, and coach. I believe with all my heart, soul, and mind that success your way is available to you if you’re willing to begin equipping yourself with these 7 Ds of success.
So let’s take a look now at the system that allows you to guarantee your own success in the world.
The 7 Ds of Success
D1 – DECLARE Boldly What You Want – This is no trivial step. In fact, this may feel like the hardest step of all. And in my experience, it’s actually straightforward for most people most of the time.
I’d invite you to consider that it’s not that people don’t know what they want, it’s that they’ve forgotten what they really want.
OR… they’ve been led to believe that what they want isn’t practical.
Either way, you must be willing and actually DECLARE what you want. The United States of America was DECLARED into existence first… before the fight began.
Think about the last thing you got that you really wanted (car, new fridge, a date, sex, a burger). Now, I’m willing to bet you got it because you first declared you wanted it. Whatever it was, you first declared, either out loud or to yourself, that you wanted that thing… then you got it.
Well, here’s some good news. The process of creation… that is… the process of getting what you want… is always the same.
First, you DECLARE what you want. Then, you…
D2 – DEFINE the Necessary Required Actions – This is the step so many other goal setting programs steer people wrong. Even most “SMART” goals downplay the importance of this step. Because, it’s not enough to set “specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and timely” goal outcomes if you aren’t clear on what’s required to achieve those outcomes.
In other words, you need to know what actions are going to be required to accomplish what you really want – not just the end result. And you need to have a pretty good idea of what’s required before you actually commit to what you say you want.
What that means to you is that you’ll need to do a little recon… a little investigating… to determine the investments of time, money, skills, relationships, or anything else you might need to get the success you really want.
You should be able to get a realistic idea of what’s required in less than an hour on Google or through a couple of strategic conversations with others who have success similar to what you want.
Be careful here. Don’t get so caught up in collecting data and getting clear on EVERY detail that you don’t move forward. Look at the first set of actions… look at the big consistent actions required. You should be able to find those fairly quickly.
Once you have a fairly accurate idea of the necessary required actions, THEN you’ll need to…
D3 – DECIDE Powerfully To Do or NOT to DO – Information can change our view of the world. And it might just change what you consider success. That’s why it’s critical to be clear and honest with yourself in this 3rd step.
Look carefully at your list of necessary required actions. Are you really going to do what’s required – no matter what moods, emotions or feelings come up? Are you really going to work two hours after your regular job to get your new enterprise off the ground?
I’m not saying you won’t have any fear… or concerns… or questions. You’ll likely have all of those things and more. The possibility in this step is to DECIDE powerfully to do or NOT do the necessary required actions you discovered in D2.
If you are not willing to honestly and fully decide to do what’s required then this is the time to decide NOT to do it at all.
Note, there is no in between.
As the great master, Yoda, so eloquently stated, “Do or do not; there is no try.”
The reason this is so important is that so many people get down on themselves. they get down on themselves because they’ve lied to themselves. They’ve lied to themselves over and over about what they are willing to do — and it destroys their confidence. They talk themselves into something because that’s what they’re “supposed” to do.
Well, this is your permission slip from me to choose from a place of power to NOT do something. The most successful people in the world will tell you that saying no with conviction and certainty is just as important, if not more so, as saying yes.
Now, if you decide to do, then the next D is to…
D4 – DO What is Required – Did you catch that? DECIDING to do and DOing are two different things. You might even think it’s silly for me to separate these two steps; it’s not.
Let me ask you…
Have you ever decided to start a new eating plan or to start working out only to not do it? Let me assure you, deciding to do it and doing it are two very different success skill sets.
So how do you “just do it”? You just do it.
You see, what stops people has nothing to do with “how to” or “what to” do. What stops most people are the thoughts, feelings and emotions that contradict what they said they wanted when it’s time to do the necessary required actions.
At this point in the success process, you simply must do what you said you would do long enough to…
D5 – DETERMINE What Is and Is Not Working – This step is straightforward as long as you are willing to be honest with yourself. Look at the necessary required actions in step two. Are you doing those things and if so, are you moving closer to what you declared in step one?
If no, then what, based on the new insights and information you’ve gained from doing, needs to change?
Once you know those changes or if things are working, then move on to the sixth “D”…
D6 – DIRECT Accordingly – You have three options as you continue moving towards what you declared.
ONE… Develop systems for what you are doing or what’s getting in the way.
TWO… Delegate what you are doing or what keeps getting in the way
THREE… Destroy what keeps getting in the way. Be relentless here.
You likely already know what you can develop systems for, what you can delegate, and what you can destroy. Take each large tasks or outcome and break it into smaller parts. Then, take each of the smaller parts through the 7D system. When you do, you’ll be blown away by how quickly your declarations become reality.
D7 – DANCE – That’s right, dance. Dance with this process… don’t fight it, struggle through it, or just do it. This process is the process of success. This is what you will be doing to create the life you want. So, dance with it. Enjoy it. Learn the steps and feel the music of the process.
Which of these D’s are missing from your process? Could you imagine failing if you were intentional and consistent in applying these 7D’s to what it is you say you want? Can’t you see how success would be guaranteed!
So, what now?
Simple. Start at the top and test this system of accomplishment for your yourself. Test it in some area of your life. As you work through the system and begin to get results, use it in more and more areas of your life. Use it for big goals and small changes. No matter where you use the system, it works if you work it – guaranteed.
And if you ever find a project or big goal off track, see if you are honestly using all 7Ds. If not, add in the ones that are missing and watch as the results you were missing suddenly appear.
In your corner,
